2019 S A Champs
The 2019 SA Championships was held at Mooi River.
The tournament was well attended, it was decided to only have four teams in the A div due to a lack of high handicapped teams this year.
The winners of the A division were Shongweni who played against Nyati A in the finals. Shongweni won the finals by 3 goals in a very exciting finals
It was a great day for Gavin Cocker who always wanted to win SA Champs with his sons in the team, this year he played in a section with his sons, Trent Cocker and John Rae. Their cousin Leigh Higgs played in the other section with Andrew Heynes and Brent Von Benecke .
The prestigious player of the year Gordon Shaw saddle prize was awarded to our Men’s Captain – Jan Albert Steenkamp
Helene Steenkamp was also recognised for her outstanding contribution to polocrosse and was awarded the Ginny Herbert award for the woman who has contributed the most to polocrosse this year.
Natalie Maclarty’s horse, MY BOY, won best pony
Gavin Cocker won the best overall number three.
John Rae won best number 1
Josh Le Roux won best Number 2 and Keenan Classen won best number 3 in A Div
